The Author’s Story
Combining a lifelong love of history with a fascination for what makes people do what they do, Kiera Mathis Jones is currently working on her debut fiction novel (Untitled Star #1 ) which explores the possibilities and perils faced by women making their stand in our world.
After dabbling in the art of the written word at a young age (and winning an essay contest at her local library!), Kiera began her career in university as a freelance non-fiction writer, reviewer, and editor. Her early published works included articles on culture, history, science, design, travel, and art for varied digital and print publications, ranging broadly from Wallpaper* to julib.com to Rock & Gem.
Kiera holds a BA in Classical Studies & Archaeology from the University of Melbourne, where she spent countless hours immersed in Mediterranean mythology, history, and archaeology. Following an MA in Publishing from the University of the Arts, London, she joined Monocle magazine, working on co-branded advertising collaborations and partnerships. She later led work in organizational change and talent development after an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
Alongside her return to full-time storytelling, she stays on the lookout for opportunities to explore new cities, villages, and delicious plates of food with friends and family. Any place she can go on long walks past beautiful buildings, beaches, and bookstores… the best way to people-watch and ponder random thoughts!
